Metrology, instrumentation, and sensors
This Cluster collects research groups and laboratories that are primarily involved in the measurement and metrology fields. Activities are heterogenous and comprise the development of measuring systems for electrical impedance, low current and noise, impedance and time-and-frequency reference standards, custom measurement systems for electrical, mechanical and acoustic quantities, electric and fiber optic sensors. A relevant part of the research activity is also devoted to the characterization of measuring systems from a theoretical and experimental point of view through uncertainty analysis according to the international standards, testing, calibration and certification.
The Cluster laboratories are equipped with calibrated instruments, such as multifunction calibrators, digital multimeters, power analyzers and sensors of electrical and mechanical quantities, standards of impedance, direct voltage and frequency based on Cesium beam, testing facilities (climatic chamber, vibrating table) in order to provide traceable measurements and industry-leading solutions for the most demanding applications.
The cluster comprises the following research laboratories:
-
Metrology Laboratory (LAMLab)
-
Measurements and Sensors Laboratory (MeSLab)
-
Testing and Calibration Laboratory (TCLab)
