iXem Laboratory (iXemLab)

The iXem Lab carries out research on wireless networks, focusing on radioelectric design, network definition/dimensioning, and device construction, by designing and manufacturing radio frequency components, electronic boards and sensors. The laboratory conducts various field experiments, both in the field of geographic networks realized with Wi-Fi technology, and in the field of IoT networks realized with Bluetooth Low Energy, ZigBee and LoRa technology. The laboratory is particularly active in the field of wireless networks for agricultural applications and participates in the activities of the national center for agricultural technologies - Agritech. The laboratory has created and maintains open-source IoT projects that include hardware and IT platforms for the collection and consultation of agrometeorological data and the associated agronomic indicators. Moreover, the laboratory manages and carries out research activity on a huge LoRa network with hundreds of gateways deployed in several Italian regions. Over the years, the laboratory has set-up long-distance transmission links with WiFi and Lora that have been recognized by the specialized press as world records.
