The cluster represents a center of excellence in biomedical research, specializing in the development of cutting-edge biomedical devices, advanced medical signal, image, and data processing techniques, imaging technologies, artificial intelligence and innovative digital health solutions with applications in different fields.

The research and development activities of the cluster mainly focus on solutions for biomedical instrumentation, with the development of innovative biomedical instrumentation and analysis tools primarily designed for the assessment of the neuromuscular system and human movement analysis with applications in ergonomics, rehabilitation, sports, and occupational medicine and for applications in cardiology analyzing and interpreting complex biomedical signals to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic techniques.

Moreover, the cluster deals with image analysis with a particular emphasis on the analysis and reconstruction of optical, microscopic, and photoacoustic images, expanding our diagnostic and research capabilities. Finally, the cluster focuses on Artificial Intelligence and machine learning used to develop clinical decision aid systems and carry out data mining.

The interdisciplinary approach of the cluster allows for tackling complex challenges in the biomedical field, promoting innovation and significantly contributing to scientific and technological advancement in the health sector.
