Compressive imaging

Compressed sensing has shown that signals and images can be directly sensed in compressed form at very low rate, enabling compressive imagers, i.e. imaging systems that employ a very limited number of detectors. We are currently investigating applications in the field of space imaging, defining novel instrument concepts and implementing prototypes. This activity is performed jointly with the Institute of Applied Physics (IFAC) at CNR in Florence (Italy), and has been funded by the European Space Agency through several projects.
