Network softwarization in next-generation networks

Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Cloud-Edge-Fog Computing are key technologies in future networks, in particular for next generation 5G networks. Indeed, they enable a full "network softwarization" and allow an unprecedented level of programmability and flexibility of the telecom equipment, stimulating novel design and control approaches.   Our research investigates the above technologies and devise novel approaches, outperforming state-of-art solutions, in order to optimize the network performance. In particular, stateful dataplanes, as enabled by recent P4 technology, are investigated to reduce network delays.
