Physical Layer Aware Networking Laboratory (PLANETLab)
The lab fosters open and intelligent optical networking through modeling, simulation, and optimization of fiber communication systems. It develops physical layer–aware and AI-driven control for proactive network operation and sensing. Through digital twin technologies, based on the open-source GNPy project, it enables physics informed and data-driven network design and management. Our research also explores quantum–classical coexistence and the use of optical fibers as distributed sensors for environmental and security monitoring.
