Cs atoms frequency standard optimization

The research activity, in collaboration with INRiM, concerns the design and construction of a narrow line optical circuit for atomic cooling and for the detection of Cs atoms. The aim is to reduce the temperature of the molasses of atoms which introduces a systematic effect due to atomic collisions. The narrowing of the laser linewidth will also reduce the detection noise which is the main source of the short term instability.
