Design of satellite navigation receivers

This activity addresses the design of satellite navigation receivers, able to cope with all the Global Navigation Satellite Systems – GNSS - , (GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo). The modernized systems are using new signal formats and modulations, opening the door to research on new architectures and advanced signal processing algorithms. The constantly growing demand of accurate and precise positioning requires advanced processing able to remove disturbances and propagation impairments (e.g. multipath) as well as the ability to integrate the GNSS solutions with heterogeneous information coming from other communication systems, context aware information, as well as from other sensors.

The design of these standalone GNSS architectures and the integration on more complex positioning platform is the core of the research activity.

Specific work is devoted to design GNSS receivers for different application such as harsh environments (e.g. urban), high dynamics applications, navigation in space, transportation systems (road and rail fields)
