Nanocomputing: Magnetic devices and architectures

Different kind of spintronic devices are studied, like perpendicular NML (pNML).

These devices have the ability to combine memory and logic, it is possible to fabricate 3D circuits and they have no standby power consumption.

More recently a branch of this research has led to the development of the Racetrack Logic, Logic-in-Memory devices based upon racetrack memories.

A racetrack logic element can be seen as a memory element that is also able to perform logic operations on the stored information. Racetrack memories can be enhanced by skyrmion technology. A skyrmion is a magnetic spin vortex that can move through racetrack magnetic wires, storing information with an unprecedented density.

Circuits, interconnections and memories are studied through physical simulations and then modeled with high level models. High level models are used to describe and simulate complex circuits. When possible experiments are used to validate the technologies.
