Biography

I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in September 2018. Fascinated by the world of automation and robotics, I decided to enroll on the Master of Science in Mechatronics Engineering at Politecnico di Torino, journey that I completed in December 2020. Thanks to the Interdepartmental Centre for Service Robotics and the Department of Environmental, Land and Infrastructure Engineering, during my Master’s thesis, I had the opportunity to synthesize a good part of the knowledge and skills acquired during my degree courses. The main topic was to design a UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) that can run independently, safely and efficiently through rough and uneven terrain, such as agricultural fields or unpaved roads, by using the RRT*(Rapidly-exploring Random Tree) path planner.

After the conclusion of my Master’s thesis, I’ve started a research grants on an innovative project called Spectral Evidence of Ice (SEI). The project is aimed at identifying ice on the wings and fuselage of an airplane, through the use of a drone, using photogrammetry techniques and spectral analysis to support operators in removal operation of ice. At the end of that I took part in another project related to the Turin-Lyon tunnel that is still under construction. The objective of this project is the study of a methodology capable of autonomously analyzing and identifying the resulting material from the ongoing excavation with the ultimate goal of selecting a part of it to make concrete mix to be reused for the construction of the tunnel itself.
