Biography

Paolo Bardella was born in Torino, Italy, in 1977. He performed his studies in Electronics at the Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy, where he received the Laurea degree cum Laude in 2002. His research activity was carried on in the same Institute: in 2005 he received the PhD in Electronic and Telecommunication; he was then holding a post-doctoral position until 2011, when he became Assistant Professor in the Electronic and Telecommunication Department and Associate Professor in 2018. Paolo Bardella is Assistant Professor at the Electronic and Telecommunication Department of Politecnico di Torino, Italy, since 2018. His research interests cover the simulation of multi-section semiconductor lasers in mode-locking and self-pulsating regime, the study and optimization of semiconductor waveguide for lasers and SLDs, the design and analysis of monolithically integrated devices with extended modulation bandwidth. In the last years he focused on the modelling and simulation of QD Superluminescent Diodes and lasers, developing and extending models for the dynamic and static simulation of these devices. More recently, he started working on the design of Silicon Photonic components for telecom and biomedical applications.
