Official launch of ICOS², the European project to strengthen the resilience of the semiconductor sector
ICOS² – International Cooperation on Semiconductor Innovation and Supply Resilience has been launched, the project funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme, aiming to strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of the European semiconductor ecosystem through the promotion of strategic international partnerships.
Coordinated by Tyndall National Institute, the project brings together a consortium of 21 organisations, including universities, research centres, industry associations, and leading companies in the sector.
Among the partners is the Politecnico di Torino, participating through IUNET – Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale per l’Informatica, contributing its scientific and technological expertise in the semiconductor field.
Semiconductors represent a strategic technology for the European economy and are at the core of many key sectors, including automotive, healthcare, energy, telecommunications, and digital infrastructures. However, Europe faces significant challenges, including dependence on external suppliers and the vulnerability of global supply chains.
ICOS² aims to address these challenges by providing data-driven analyses, intelligence tools, and strategic recommendations to support future European policies and industry decision-making.
