The target of this extremely challenging ESA competition is to develop innovative breakthrough
autonomous robotic solutions for the exploration of the lunar south pole in 2028 as a part of the
European Large Logistic Lander (EL3) that will operate in the area between the Shoemaker and
Faustini crater in the South Pole of the Moon.

PoliTOMOON is a young and highly competitive team composed by the PIC4SeR Interdepartmental
Center on Service Robotics (www.pic4ser.polito.it), the DRAFT student Team (www.draftpolito.it)
and the DIANA student Team (www.teamdiana.it) as a “joint initiative” for the participation
of Politecnico di Torino to this ESA challenge. PoliTOMOON Team is also supported by THALES Alenia
Space.

The goals of the PoliTOMOON Team are two: to develop innovative and state-of-the-art technologies
for autonomous robotics solutions that can be used in planetary space exploration and highlight the
importance of a tight link between research and student activities.
