Neurostimulation

Neurostimulation is a fascinating field that has gained great popularity over the years for its potential to modulate brain activity and produce therapeutic effects. This technique involves the use of various stimuli, like electrical, magnetic, or acoustic ones, to modulate the neural activity of the brain. Neurostimulation has been used for a wide range of clinical applications, including the treatment of depression, chronic pain, epilepsy, and Parkinson's disease.

We are investigating the use of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) to improve cognitive functions, such as attention, working memory, and decision-making. tDCS involves the application of a low-intensity electrical current to specific regions of the brain through electrodes placed on the scalp. Additionally, we are exploring the use of other non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, such as binaural beats and virtual reality, to modulate cognitive performance. Specifically, binaural sounds are a type of auditory stimulation that involves presenting two different tones to each ear. The difference in the frequencies of the two tones creates a third tone that is perceived by the brain. This technique has been shown to induce different brainwave states, which can be used to enhance relaxation or concentration. Virtual reality involves presenting the user with a computer-generated environment, which can be manipulated in real-time and could enhance cognitive performance. Currently, we are using virtual reality in combination with audio stimuli to induce different psychophysical responses, like attention increase or relaxation.
