Waveguide passive components
The aim of this activity is to develop accurate and efficient methods for the design of high performance microwave waveguide components. The first step is the construction of reliable full-wave models of the various waveguide discontinuities, based on the integral equation and mode matching techniques. Then the desired component, (filter, polarizer, phase shifters, etc.) is obtained by an original synthesis technique that leads to a device that satisfies the specifications without the need of an empirical tuning.
Another area of research deals with slotted coaxial cables used as distributed antennas for indoor communications and still another one concerns the measurement of the complex permittivity of rock materials at microwave frequency.
This activity is carried out in close cooperation with Istituto di Elettronica e di Ingegneria dell’Informazione e delle Telecomunicazioni (CNR) of Torino.
