Nanogap fabrication for molecular electronics and biomedical applications
The activity is devoted to design and fabrication of nanogaps based on gold on silicon technology. In this field are relevant the applications where the properties of some molecules of changing their conductivity as consequence of the electrical conditions will be exploited to realize memory and switching devices. Self-assembly techniques can be used to realize the devices in the molecular electronics: molecules will place and bind themselves if the right conditions are settled. Same devices can be applied to biomedical applications as sensors for different species as DNA, proteins and antibodies.
