IRGAL - Galileo Innovation and Research

The IRGAL Project, funded by Regione Piemonte, foresees the development of a prototype GPS/Galileo receiver; the scope of the project is the design and implementation of a fully software version of the GPS/Galileo receiver and a version on programmable hardware (FPGA) enabling the definition of the specifications of a Galileo receiver chipset. The design of a specific RF front end tailored to the Galileo frequency set is also addressed.

The  Time and frequency reference standards group participate in providing the time reference for Galileo by using Cesium frequency samples.

The  VLSILAB Group is involved in the definition of the hardware receiver architecture and in the study of efficient technologies for the receiver implementation with particular emphasis on the acquisition and tracking functions.
