Development of biomedical devices

Instrumentation is pervasive in biomedical applications to investigate physio-pathological conditions, to develop novel diagnostic tools, to monitor patient treatments and to evaluate outcomes.  Research in our group addresses many aspects of biomedical instrumentation design and application. Innovative devices for measurement of biopotentials and for electrical stimulation are designed, developed, and tested. Cutting-edge technology development is ongoing in the field of wearable sensors and devices. A significant activity is carried on the development of biomedical equipment prototypes and technological transfer to partner companies for the final engineering and small series production. Specific applications being pursued within the group include activity monitoring, ageing, neuromuscular interfaces, assistive and rehabilitation engineering.
